Welcome to my website.  I hope you enjoy looking at my paintings – I’ll be adding new work on a regular basis.

About me...  I’m a figurative painter with a background in philosophy.  After completing my doctorate on the metaphysics of time in 2017, I started painting in oils – and haven’t been able to stop.  My work is inspired by my love of colour, nature, and my fascination with people.

I like to paint directly from life.  What excites me is the process of translating what I see in the world (the shapes, tones and colours of three-dimensional objects) into flat areas of colour and tone on a two-dimensional surface.  This involves a constant challenge of distinguishing between what we think we see and what we actually see.  For me, painting – like philosophy – is always an investigation; a process of trying to understand what I’m looking at, and putting that into some sort of order on the canvas.

I am currently studying for a Diploma in Portraiture at The Heatherley School of Fine Art in Chelsea, London.
